How to display “This PC” and “Recycle Bin” Icon on Desktop in Windows 10

Although it sounds pretty simple, however, many users have trouble getting “This PC” and “Recycle Bin” icons to the desktop. So, here’s the simplest way to do it.

One of the top priorities for users after installing Windows is to find a way to bring system icons such as This PC, Recycle Bin, Network, or Control Panel to the desktop. Setting and customizing the system is simpler and more convenient.

If you use Windows 7, 8, 8.1, it’s easy to get these icons to the desktop because every operation on these operating systems is the same. Specifically, right-click on any empty space on the desktop, select Personalize> Desktop icon settings and check the icons to add.

In the “Windows 10” era, especially Windows 10 Creators, Microsoft has upgraded and moved most of its settings to the Windows Settings app. For example, when you click Personalize on the desktop context menu, the system automatically launches the Windows Settings application and displays a variety of options related to customizing the screen.

However, it is worth mentioning that the option icon Desktop icon settings on Windows 10 has been hidden, which makes it difficult for users to put these icons on the desktop.

So, if you are trying to find a solution to this, apply the following simple steps immediately.

First, open Windows Settings using the Windows + I shortcut and access Personalization, or right-click on the empty space on the desktop and select Personalization.

In the settings page that appears, go to the Themes tab.

Now, in the main interface, if you use a low resolution screen, scroll down under Themes, and the Desktop icon settings will be displayed in the Related Settings area.

Meanwhile, if you use a high resolution screen, the Desktop icon settings option will be displayed in the upper right corner.

Once you click this option, the Desktop icon settings window will appear and provide the same settings on earlier versions of Windows.

Now, just check the icons you want to bring to the desktop. Finally click Apply and Ok is done.
