Step 4: On the Task Manager> File> Run new task >enter explorer.exe> ​​OK to restart File Explorer.

II. Enable Background Apps:

In Windows 10 Creator Update or higher version, there is another common issue that results in inactive search when searching the app which is the option of running background is disabled.

You have two ways to turn it on.

1. Settings:

– Open Settings> Privacy -> Background apps> turn Let apps in the background shaking.

– Or enter background apps in the search box> select which apps will run in the background. It will be the Background apps item in Settings.

2. Registry Editor:

If you do not see this option, you can enable it in Registry Editor.

– Open the Registry Editor, navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER Software Microsoft Windows CurrentVersion BackgroundAccessApplications .

– In the right pane of BackgroundAccessApplications , right-click New> DWORD (32-bit) Value > Name GlobalUserDisabled .

– Double-click GlobalUserDisabled , enter a value of 0> OK. Restart the computer.

III. Check Windows Search:

You need to double check the Windows Search service when the search function does not work.

Step 1: Open Run, enter services.msc> OK to open Services.

If you do not see the status of the service, then the search function is disabled. Right-click on Windows Search> Start / Restart to start the service.

Or double-click on Windows Search> select Automatic (Delayed Start) at Startup type in the General tab.

Step 2: Open Control Panel by typing control panel in Run. Go to Indexing Options and click on.

When the Indexing Options interface pops up, you choose the search position does not work, for example, in the Start menu, click Start Menu. Next, click Advanced> Rebuild to rebuild the search index for this location. You do the same thing with other locations.
